PW2 Duokan reflow -> change font

Hello,

maybe it has been discussed, but I did not find anyhting. Is it possible to change the font while being in PDF reflow mode? I seems the font is somehow tied to the PDF. Anyone got an idea? I got the latest avail Duokan build 36018. (btw - is devel dead?)

Un-demo KT2

Maybe I am offtopic for PW1 but...
I had Kindle 7th gen in demo mode (if you tap menu you can see "settings" inactive). To undemo it you have to tap magnifier. Than in searchbox write " ;demo " and confirm it. Demo menu will appears. Than you have to tap on "Resell Device" option and it is done.
If the device is in normal mode ";demo" command doesnt work.

Not getting all files with dd

I've done a backup on my PW1 but some files are missing in the image. For an example /mnt/us are empty. When I search through the image pretty much all the personal information about the firmware version, registered owner, Wifi network etc are missing. When connected to the Kindle I can browse through all the files in the shell.

On the host computer I've run:
nc -l 5555|dd of=mmcblk0p1.bin

And on the Kindle:
dd if=/dev/mmcblk0p1|nc 192.168.15.201 5555

After this I have repeated this for the other three partitions. I have also tested to do it all in one image with mmcblk0 but the result is still the same.

Do anyone know why I'm not getting all the files and what I can do to fix this?

Using Kindle (PW) as a second screen with your android phone

Hi, I've seen the Kindleberry Wireless, the VNC solutions to use your Kindle together with a PC, but I'm wondering - might there be a way to use Kindle Paperwhite as a second screen for your android phone? It'd be portable like the Kindleberry and would come with the advantage of not having to buy the extra gadgets (i.e. the raspberry pi + wifi/bluetooth components).

All I want to do is to be able to type stuff on a proper keyboard, while outdoors (preferably using Google Docs).

USE_ALT_FONTS method working on which device and FW version?

Hello,

I know there are some Hack methods there to help me add new fonts, but jailbreak becomes impossible after the FW version 5.4.5.X (I can't remember the version number accurately)

And I know the USE_ALT_FONTS method, it worked for me when I was using my KPW1.

I searched this forum for a while and didn't find a conclusive thread about USE_ALT_FONTS method, almost all the Kindle font threads are about jailbreak.

I want to know the USE_ALT_FONTS method is working on which device and which FW version. As my team and I are working on a project, to help those Kindle-newbies easily do some tricks on Kindle, so this is important to us. We don't want to release a feature that rely on jailbreak.

KUAL problem PW2

Hello, I jailbroke my device when I had 5.4 firmware, then updated to 5.6.1.0.6 and KUAL was working perfectly. I had to wipe my device while being on 5.6.1.When launching Kual, however, I get a message "Restarting your kindle.The item failed to close properly" The jailbreak seems to be in place (once got *Gandalf* message during restart and to check I tried to update a jailbreak and it went successfully). Is there a way to overcome this?

K4 [Help/Question] SSH-USBNetwork

Hi! Yesterday I received my "new" K4NT silver (fw 4.1) :3 but in the past days I read the threads and wikis about jailbreaking and ssh/usbnetworking access. I don't feel confident enough to try that last procedure, so my question is: I'd like to jb my kindle only to read the many epub files I have without having to convert them first into mobi (installing kual+librerator).
Is ssh/usbnetwork really necessary for a winSoZZ noob's user like me? ^^;;

Ps: to the moderators, I hope this thread is posted in the right section ;) and sorry for my bad english ;)

Duokan 2014 and jpeg pictures

Greetings,

In the duokan post, it is specified that it supports jpeg images, but when I go in my pictures folder, i don't see anything.
I even tried to resample them in 800x600 but I don't see anything, just an empty folder (0 books).
Are pictures openable ? How ??

PW2 Should I buy new KPW2 with 5.6.1.0.6??

Hello,
I want to buy a new KPW2, and I think it will be shipped with the latest firmware 5.6.1.0.6.
So, it will not be able to be jailbreak-ed, (I don't think I will do the serial port method).

1- can I install Duokan in the latest firmware without jailbreaking??

2- can I edit the margins (especially for PDFs) on the device?
or I need to do that via PC?

3- Does it support RTL sideloaded books (Arabic)?

4- Whats the compatibility with calibre (in converting books to mobi or azw3 and sending them to the device)?

PW2 KPW2 - 5.6.1.0.6 - Rooting/Jailbreaking

Hello, everyone!

I'm in the process of performing a hardware mod on the latest KPW2, purchased last week. I plan on rooting and jailbreak it, and I wanted to detail my progress here.

There has been a decent amount of information available, particularly from knc1, who I admire greatly for his or her hard work. I've been reading about the threads located here as well as here and definitely here and here too.

FYI, I will be using a MicroFTX RS232 to MicroUSB breakout available from http://jim.sh/ftx, ordered in configuration #3, which will allow 1.8v, unlike other boards which go ~3.3v.

Progress will be posted shortly.

Kindle Touch after Kubrick have problems

Hi,
I have Kindle Touch for five days from auction. All worked.
Login in Kindle for a test with Amazon Account.. And use JB on fw 5.3.2.
(I forgot install backdoorlock)
And on a untrusted public wifi from amazon automatic ota downloaded update and instaled fw 5.3.7.2. Still working but without jailbreak.

But i use kubrick for security issues (reverse shells..and others). In the main system (fw 5.1.2) after i touch on Menu, menu turns black and the turns white again, and doing nothing.

I tried manual formating over ssh in the diagnostic mode with dd
(dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk0p3 bs=4K count=1K)
i tried manual flash kernel and main system with dd.. Nothing. Wipe external storage.. Selecting all (wipe, jb) in Kubrick.. still nothing.
"IR Touchscreen" working good in diagnostic kernel.. On main system/kernel i dont click to a book, menu..
I want only JB and secure system, but this is.. poor.

Any possible solution for me Kindle?

Unsuccessful jailbreak Kindle DX Graphite

Hi everyone, I bought my Kindle DXG (Ver 2.5.8) with Duokan preinstalled by the seller(unsure if it is already jailbreaked, duokan can be installed without jailbreaking).Without resetting the device to factory defaults, I attempted to jailbreak the device using kindle-jailbreak-0.7.N.zip. To be honest I have already forgotten the results (whether it is successful or not) and I proceeded with the install of launchpad, which has failed with the error code being U007. I believed that the jailbreak was unsuccessful and restored the system to factory defaults (without uninstalling Duokan OS). After that, I attempted to jailbreak the device with various versions of the jailbreak zip file (0.1,0.7,0.4,1.1,1.2 and so on). To my dismay, all but the 0.4 version failed with the error code U007. Although the system notified me that the 0.4 version jailbreak was successful, I believed it has not succeeded as there are no new folders being created and all following attempts to install fonthack and launchpad have failed. From then on, I have tried various methods to jailbreak the device (including reinstalling the 2.5.8 OS from recovery mode), but to no avail.However, after running the system integrity check (I have forgotten the exact wording), I realised that the system files may have been tampered as it prompted that the pubprodkey file (I have forgotten the exact wording, my apologies) was missing. I suspect that my situation is similiar with that of rsm (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=241907). I was unable to follow the instructions as I don't know how to manually uninstall the jailbreak.
Could someone shed some light on the issue? All help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Kindle Paperwhite exit Demo without serial connection

Dear All!

I've bought a Kindle Paperwhite (EY21) Demo unit and wanted to un-demo it.
When i've disassembled it, it turned out that the serial pads are completely burned :smack: Only the GND pad is accessible.
Is there any way to install a stock FW on it without the serial connection?
I can do any experiment on it as it's useless at the moment.
So if you have any idea please let me know!

K4 Bricked K4 won't go into USB downloader mode

I've been trying to unbrick my Kindle 4 using Kubrick. It seemed to work after a few tries. Got through the whole process and it booted apparently fine after that, but it froze again almost immediately. This happened a few times, until it just froze for good at the booting screen (about a third of the progress bar under the tree).

No it won't go into USB downloader mode by pressing the power button and the down key in the five-way pad, as it did before. So now I can't get beyond this screen in Kubrick: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/att...0&d=1362219293

It's not the battery, because it has a brand new one which worked in the previous unbricking processes using Kubrick, and I charge it from the wall for many hours as is recommended before every attempt.

PW2 Noob Help

I just got a kindle PW2. Its blacklisted and I purchased it knowing this from PowerbookMedic

Any way I am facing a few issues, and I am unable to find a solution. Help please

1) SSH over Wifi, stops working if BBB is enabled. How do I fix this? Without BBB the device gets unregistered till the next boot

2) Is there anyway to Sync my Feedly RSS to my Kindle, Wirelessly. Or just read these feeds on my kindle? Logging in doesn't work on the browser. Calibre syncing is possible, but it makes 1 file out of the topics and not as fun.

3) Can I somehow use send2kindle without an Amazon email ID? Maybe a CRON job that checks my server regularly and downloads the latest books. Is that possible?

KT2 Again, the jailbreak!

Hi, I just bought a brand new KT2 for christmas and i just want to jailbreak it. It's running the 5.6.1.0.6 firmware and I see that there isn't other method than the serial port one. Is there other variant for JB the 5.6 fw? If there isn't where can i find the files for manually jailbreaking the KT2?
