I have accidentally upgraded my PW2 to 5.6.5. My old JB does not work so I cannot manage my collection easily. Also Duokan wont be able to run on this version. While waiting for a usb to serial TTL adapter, I thought that there could be an alternative method for collection by using search. Thus I have created the following vbscript (windows only at this stage. You may want to convert it to Python or other languages for Linux and Mac). Just unzip the file put the script file under the root directory of your kindle.
You can now create sub-directories under the documents folder (e.g \documents\fiction, documents\tech, etc). When you double clicking the script, you can make a choice 1 to rename, 2 to restore. The script will append the subdirectory name to the books under the directory. For example
\documents\fiction1\xyz.awz will be renamed to \documents\fiction\fiction1.xyz.awz
Thus, you can use the kindle search function to search fiction1, then all files under the fiction1 will appear. This perhaps is the easiest way if you do not want to jailbreak or manually add the books to your collections.
Certainly, you can restore any time. Also, the script will skip all the files that have been renamed previously so you can drop new files into the old sub-directory. Please be aware that it does not process the sub-folders recursively (only the first level under the documents). Also it wont rename files directly under the documents folder.
