DX(G) Unable to register after factory reset

I am unable to register my Kindle DXG after factory reset. It is in the latest version 2.5.8 firmware. I also updated it with the latest Kindle Services Update. 3G signal is full 5 bars.

Alt+4-1-1 shows "Certificate: MISSING", "Roaming Version Number: (unknown)". Alt+3-1-1 shows the right time and date but "Local Time Offset: +2h", so when I did "@time" from the search bar, it showed the current time + 2h. It indicates "Central Europe Time". I am currently in the Netherlands.

Amazon customer service failed to help me! So I turn to you guys for help.

The device still listed registered in my Amazon Account. My questions are:
1. Any idea of how to register the device?
2. Is the "Kindle Service Update" failed to remedy "Certificate: MISSING" because "Local Time Offset: +2h"?

PW4 Completely shut down a PW4

Greetings, thank you all for your hard work! The following questions have partly been answered for older devices but not specifically for the PW4 (unless I'm blind).


What would happen if I issued a poweroff command from the command line on a jailbroken kindle paperwhite 4 (2018)?

Would doing that entail the risk of bricking the device or losing the jailbreak or other miseries that could be considered harmful/undesirable (like losing data, etc.)?

What would have to be done to start it up again afterwards? Is it even possible? How long would it take?

Does it even make sense to attempt doing that?

Sreen refresh every page turn while reading PDF file

Hi all, I have a question that need your advice.
As we sometimes need to read PDF file. I use landscape mode. However, the reading experience is not very comfortable, the screen refresh every page turn even I did turn off page refresh in the setting.
Could you give advice on how to turn off those flashing? Thank you in advance.

I bought a PW1 which has turned out to have had eraseall nastiness done to it and is useless. But it has a good screen.

I just bought a PW2 which looks like it got run over by a truck, screen totally crazy paved and mashed. Opened it up, even heat shields squashed a bit but I put a serial port on it and it boots.

Can I swap the main board from the PW2 into the PW1 to use it's screen?

K3 How to run the script on power on / usb connected

Hi,

Awesome stuff here, I've managed to root my kindle (3G GB), get ssh, modified some of the weather scripts found online to almost make my own picture frame / kindle weather display / CPU Monitoring station thing however I still have one issue.

If the usb is ever disconnected from the kindle, reconnecting it causes the screen to blank, and then I have to 'power on' the kindle again, holding the power button for a second or so. Now, this in itself isn't too bad, except for when I mount it inside a picture frame!.

Is there someway I can edit things, so upon power being restored/usb connected, it'll also 'wake up' and start running the script? I don't ever plan to use it as a kindle anymore, so it doesn't need to be something I can 'reset' easily. It'd be something like https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=101847 but for usb/power. I'm going to investigate if there's an event for that now, but in the meantime maybe someone can help :)

Kindle Voyage w/ the most recent firmware and a working Jailbreak as of February 2019. Most recent USBNetwork Hack, Rescue Pack, and Coward's Rescue Pack installed using packages from NiLuJe's snapshots thread as of the mentioned date. Not the first time I ended up with System Diags because of empty battery. This time, I guess I was careless enough to have selected another command while trying to disable diagnostics. Now I am stuck with the DIAGS EXIT screen. Any ideas?

Kindle SE Blank Megrez issue

My kindle (KT2) stucked at the tree screen with an empty progress bar. When I connect it to the windows it appears as SE Blank Megrez. I took the photo below from an live linux version. Can I revive my device from this situation? Thanks in advance.

PW3 Bricked device with no serial response

Hi,
I have just bricked my device.It stucks at the man-under-the-tree picture when boot up and can not be recognized by computer.When I connected it with serial , it has no response.What should I do now?

What I did before it bricks:
1.Mounted the filesystem to rw (and probably forgot to mount it back)
2.Updated the busybox(extracted from https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ricson.busybox works normally before it bricks)
3.Installed pip using get-pip.py and installed ftpdlib
4.Changed iptables rules(-A INPUT -i wlan0 -j ACCEPT)
5.Transferred some book to it with ftpdlib
6.Put a screenshot in the linkss folder,and enabled screensavers hack
7.Reboot and BOOM

Which step will probably brick the device?I would appreciate it if you can give me some advice.

PW2 Replace japanese PW2 screen on a french-bought PW2?

Hello,

I have a PW2 wifi (905A), bought in Japan in 2014.
It wasn't jail-broken.
Last month, it suddenly showed something like "update failed". After, it has never re-booted.
I decided to make serial port, with success, but diagnose leads to: the eMMC is dead.

I could have a PW2 bought in France with broken screen. The guy doesn't know exact model, but says it's a 6th gen.

So my question about compatibility: could I replace my screen (PW2 905A) on a PW2 2013 motherboard bought in France? (are the both screens same model?)

PW3 "Destroying Packages" on PW3 firmware 5.10.3

I was caught by a OTA update, totally forgot to block them. Sometimes, screensaver and KUAL randomly stop working, so I could just reinstall its .bin files copying them to mrpackages folder and hitting a ;log mrpi. On 5.10.3, I'm getting "Destroying Packages" everytime I try to reinstall them.

So, what are my options? can I downgrade to a previous version? Is there other way to have KUAL and screensaver working?

I'm new to Kindle and just got myself a PW3. It is a great device but I really need to be able to organize my ebooks into collections or something like that.

I sadly lost my kindle Keyboard that played mp3's.

So I bought the Oasis and I plan to Jailbreak it once it arrives. My question is that I can't find anywhere how to play mp3's on it once its jailbroaken.

Anyone have any success with this?

Kindle DX (B004) Conundrum

Hello,

I'm in a bit of a bind. I have lurked here for many, many years since I picked up my Kindle DX (B004).

I have to believe at some point I dabbled in some random software package that I downloaded here with my Kindle DX, and then promptly had some sort of hard drive crash where I can't see my old downloads - and I don't quite remember what the package was.

Then, today, I started realizing I should upgrade my firmware (2.1), and went to Amazon's site to manually upgrade it to at least 2.3, and after getting me up to 2.1.1, it gave me an error (U006 - Checksum).

When I use the ;debugOn and ;dm commands, this is what it says:

Googling netfront.ini and Kindle DX I can read some really old threads here on a package (Savory? Fonts? USBHack?) that I must have inadvertently poisoned the netfront.ini file with.

I tried to find uninstall.bin's for each of those and can't seem to match it up - it keeps getting shut down on netfront.ini.

Is there any hope of me getting off 2.1.1? Is there a baseline firmware I can install from? I'd love to get to 2.5.8, at least, or launch into 3.2.1 as in reading all these 2019 threads that seems possible (!) - although I don't have access to a Kindle 3, unfortunately.

Any help would be appreciated. Happy to post more logs if that helps.

I'm wondering whether it's yet possible to jailbreak the Kindle Paperwhite 3 running 5.10.3 firmware?

If this is possible could you please point me in the right direction as to how to go about this?

Sorry that I'm new here, I just wanted to show the bug I found that I'll probably release soon.
Essentially I found a bug in the Kindle's web parser; that from what I can tell may allow for custom code. Currently all I can get is a crash/reboot, but gotta start somewhere, right?

PW2 fw upgradeed, jailbreak lost

my pw2 was once successfully jailbroken, which was more than two years ago. recently, when i need to read some epub files, it showed wrong messages, and the book could not be opened. then i went to the setting, and found it had been upgraded to the latest version, 5.11.1, secretly !!!!
now every time after the reboot(i did't reset my kindle.), click kual for the first time, wrong messages would appear, but after that, kual can be opened, while it seems that it can't function. when i click "install mr packages", nothing happens.
i tried runme.sh, and failed.


does it mean that jailbreak is lost?
are there any ways to jailbreak it again!


How i regret that i didn't turn off wifi!!!!!!!!

aur0raHAX - HTML5 app loader for Kindle

Hello everyone.
I've been working on this for the past few days and thought I should release it.
You may have seen my video where I demoed khipwn, and saw the HTML5 app loader I used.
I made that app loader, and here it is.

Tutorial to install it:

Step 1: Download aur0raHAX.zip from the attached files.

Step 2: Extract the aur0raHAX.zip file onto your Kindle's root folder over USB.
You should see a folder called 'aur0raHAX' with a file called 'hax.html' on the inside.

Step 3: Open the experimental browser, and go to "file:///mnt/us/aur0raHAX/hax.html" (you can bookmark this).
Once it loads, you'll see in the "Installed hax" section, a file called 'hax.html', that means it worked.

Now you can transfer HTML5 apps into the aur0raHAX folder and launch them with aur0raHAX.
