I upgraded the firmware on my Kindle DX a few years back when Amazon put out that notice that if you didn't update it, you'd no longer be able to connect to the Kindle store. So I updated it to 2.5.8 and left it in my locker at work for quite some time.
I fired it up last week and noticed I could no longer connect it properly to the internet. I tried factory restoring and all that and it did nothing. This is the Kindle DX (G) that has free 3G (no wi-fi). Anyway, I could connect to the Kindle store but I couldn't download anything. I can't register it to me because every time I try it says it cannot connect to the internet.
I googled this quite a bit and it turns out it's because my Kindle thinks it's the year 1969. And the only way to fix it? Jailbreak it, of course! Which led me to this forum.
I believe I applied the jailbreak properly. I uploaded "Update_jailbreak_0.13.N_dxg_install.bin" to the root of my DX and applied the update. It rebooted. There is ANOTHER glitch with this 2.5.8 update where the sleep/power switch does nothing, so I can't really "check" but I am sure it went through.
My question is the following, because I haven't been able to figure out anything further on my own:
This is the only large Kindle ever made so I really, really want to get this thing up and running again. I really appreciate any help anyone can give!

- How do I SSH into my Kindle DX to set the correct time? I am using a Windows 10 laptop.
- Is there any way to fix the power switch glitch? Maybe installing a completely different operating system on this thing?
