Hi,
I made my own fork of KindlePDFReader, called Librerator. It can be downloaded here:
https://github.com/kai771/kindlepdfviewer/downloads
Full list of changes can be found here:
https://github.com/kai771/kindlepdfv...tor%3A-History
Librerator (just like KPV) is a multi-format e-book reader. It supports multiple formats: pdf, djvu, mobi, epub, cbz, fb2, html, chm, txt, rtf, doc, xps, zip and jpg/jpeg.
It’s still not quite finished, but please give it a try.
It is supposed to work on K2, KDX, K3 and K4NT, although I only tested it on K3, since that’s the only thing I have. K2 and KDX are quite likely to work, since KPV also works on them. K4NT might not... I tried to make it work on K4NT, but since I don’t have it myself, I did it blindly... so no idea if it actually will.
Instructions (for K2/KDX/K3) (tested only on K3).
- install jailbreak
- install launchpad (kite should also work, but I didn’t test that)
- download librerator-prerelease.1.zip and put it on your Kindle in “customupdates” folder
- press Shift-Shift-I and wait about a minute.
- press Shift-Shift-Space
You can now start Librerator pressing Shift-L-L.
Instructions (for K4NT)
Disclaimer: I didn’t test any of this! I only have K3! I do believe that this should work, but hey, what do I know... I’m just a noob. Use at your own risk.
1. if you have CoolReader 3 installed, go to step 5, since you probably already have cr3runner installed.
2. install jailbreak
3. download cr3runner. Unzip the archive on your PC, and copy update_cr3runner_2.7_k4x_install.bin to Kindle flash root.
4. From the Kindle Settings dialog open menu, run Update Your Kindle. Wait for the Kindle to reboot.
5. download librerator-prerelease.1.zip and copy librerator folder from the archive to your Kindle flash root.
6. Edit file commands.txt in /mnt/us/cr3 folder on your Kindle. Add this line at the end:
You might need to restart the Kindle again after this. If everything went well, you should have a “book” called Librerator on your Kindle. (at least that’s how I understood it. Seriously, if you have a K4NT, and guts to try this, or knowledge to do it better, please report what you did, and I’ll edit this post).
If it doesn’t work, and you’re more of a savvy user, you can try starting it using ssh, going into librerator folder on your kindle and typing
Any comments welcome. Thank you.
