SSH over wifi too slow

Hi all it was fun experience rooting my kindle and ssh ing to it ....i have enabled ssh over wifi and is working but it seems to be quite slow.....my wifi access point is the one created in ubuntu ....

Any suggestion why it is too slow....(it does not make sense to send files to it ....its that slow :( )
