Is there a way to format kindle 3 by opening its back?

Problem is kindle 3 has corrupted files and its inconsistent in being recognised by the computer.
It has this issue 4 months now . I tried hard resetting. It was taking much time. 3 times it did boot and got recognised but I made the mistake to loading more books instead of formating. Now it may just ocasionally give the "kindle recognized" sound but in 5 seconds its unrecognized.
Things tried:
1)reset by holding power button 1 sec, 7 secs, 30 secs, 1 min, 2 min, 3 mins
2)opened back removed battery and plugged it again after a day
3)while battery is out hold the power button for 20 mins to deplete any energy from the circuits.
4)plugged in wall

I couldnt see any relation between what I did and the 3 successful bootings.
